It’s quite rare to use products and be surprised at how magical they are. Typically the ratio was something like 1 in 1000? Today, I find myself being surprised almost every week or month by a new product experience that provides a moment of magic - all due to AI.
One reason that Uber has been so successful is that it unlocked magical moments at scale for so many people. Riders could magically be picked up and dropped off. They didn’t need to pay taxi drivers in cash or via janky credit card machines. Drivers could magically make money and get paid automatically.
AI is now unlocking the next generation of magical moments at scale. Cursor and Windsurf magically write your code for you - even if you’ve never taken a coding course. You can now turn an idea into a real product for the first time.
Granola is magically taking notes for you in a format that is helpful for the future, and you don’t even need to think about it.
Grok can magically answer complex questions and perform analysis. (I now find myself using Grok for most basic searches).
MathAcademy magically gives you math lessons at your exact level. I’m now re-learning calculus and advanced math and having a blast doing it.
OpenAI can magically transform your photos into visual works of art.
While it feels both early and late in the AI wave, I’m a believer that in the next few years brilliant founders will continue to create more magical moments and how we use technology will be forever changed.
